Careless in Our Summer Clothes

So I am trying to not read the Harry Potter book too fast because I want to make it last. However, there is one thing I noticed during my reading. At one point Harry goes to visit his parents' graves, and the tombstones are marked saying that J&L died October 1981...which okay, so then are these books not taking place in current time? Because if so, then homeboy is no parts 17. He’s actually closer to 30. Because if Lily and James dies when he was 1, then he would have been born in 1980, which would make him 27, if the books were set in present day. So am I to assume that this is actually taking place circa 1997? Am I the only one who didn’t know this? Although it would make sense seeing as how none of them have mobile phones, and this would make is so much easier for them all to stay in touch while on the run, however, I am aware that would totally take away from the magic aspect. Who needs to send a talking patronious...just send them a text! Ha Although I’m sure the Ministry of Magic would have found a way to hex all phones somehow.

And , I am also convinced that J.K. Rowling is totally satirizing the war. I mean the whole damn thing is about genocide!

Thoughts?

We got along we got along we got along we got along before you did that...

Sooooo in the excitement of engagements and house buying...I forgot to announce feminist happenings....so here we go!

Please join Chicago NOW, on Thursday, July 26, at Ethel's Chocolate Lounge, 819 W. Armitage Ave., for the Second Annual Chocolate for Choice Fundraiser/Membership Meeting! I mean, who doesn't love chocolate and supporting a woman's right to choose? It is $15 for NOW members and students with a valid ID, and $20 for general admission. This gets you several pieces of chocolate selected by yours truly and the fabulous Britta, unlimited fondue, and wine. There will also be a raffle, which will include an IPod Shuffle among other goodies. Price for the raffle is yet to be determined, but it will probably be like $3 for one, $10 for your whole arm or whatever. Irregardless, it should be a great event...also, if you want to learn more about Chicago NOW, we will be talking about that and all the fun things that includes.

Right...tonight...Harry Potter book release party at the Borders in Oak Park...apparently they have the biggest one cuz they turn the street in Diagon Alley. And then they have like shuttles to get you from different things. I am not staying all night though. I ordered my book online, so I don't need to wait in any sort of crazy-ass line! But it should be a good time. I think we get free wands. Which, is awesome, obviously.

Okay, so I heart the WGN morning news. This is no secret. However, why do they always have scantily-clad women on it? Can we make it even and get some men on there wearing like just boxers or something? I mean come on! I love me some Pat Tamasulo making a fool of himself with the various Loop and Hooters girls...but can Robin B. have some fun with the men? Oh, and I felt so bad that Larry Potash had to get himself wrapped up in some sort of snake this morning. I would have cried. But that turtle was super cute.

And, thank you to the lovely JG for finally making me watch "So You Think You Can Dance." And in the episode where Wade Robeson was the guest judge. Love him. Oh, and also, very happy that Dale did not go home on TC. Although Sara M., should have been in the top three! Everyone was loving that vegetable thing she made, including me, from just seeing it on my television screen. And, hello, she made her own freaking cheese. I need a fromagier to come work for me.

Alrighty, gotta go. But will give a recap of the weekend and of course the new Bret Michaels show: Rock of Love. My newest guilty pleasure. I can't decide if it's worse than Flavor of Love. I think maybe they are just even. I did Tivo that show Mad Men on AMC, so I will have a full report on that too.

And remember everyone...we are bring cunt back...in a good way! :)

Give it to me baby...uh huh uh huh

Firstly, my sister got engaged! Mozel Tov to the happy couple! T did a great job planning the engagement...my sister was super surprised. And my dad knew as did his brother and mother...but obviously yours truly couldn't keep that a secret!!

So since Saturday I have been dog sitting in Bucktown for a friend of my sisters. She has 3-year-old Mackey who is a Boston Terrier and 3-month-old Ava who is a mini dachsund. And two cats. One wants nothing to do with me, one is an attention whore. They are all SO CUTE. Seriously.

Let's see...worked the NOW booth at Picthfork...went to a brunch and a BBQ.

Well now that it's Thursday, everything I have written about is old news. In new news, I am reading the book Cunt: A Declaration of Independence by Inga Muscio. It's awesome. Everyone male and female should read it.

Okay, swamped at work gotta go.

I'm not here for your entertainment...

Happy Belated 4th of July my dear readers! So let's see...so my dirty little secret of the day is that I think Calum Best is super hot. Minus the hookers and coke and general sleazyness...dude is fine. Not as hot or clean cut as my Wenty but whatever. Speaking of, is season 2 of Prison Break coming out yet?

The series finale of Hidden Palms was on last night...you know, I would have liked to see the kids at school and stuff. I mean wrapping up the murder of Eddie was good but they left lots of things open. Although I am excited for Gossip Girl! And Reaper. And that new show on Fox with Kelsey Graham. Oh and that Fox show about Vampires.

Re: Hell's Kitchen...I am still on my quest to find a place that has Beef Wellington. My dad said they had it on the buffet on his cruise. But that's a cruise. And also, shut up Melissa (contestant on the show NOT my sister). Please put your hair back and in a hair net when you are cooking. I'm sorry, but that is soooo nasty that her "amber waves of annoying" tm TWoP writer, are hanging everywhere while she cooks. It's just so gross. And stop picking on Julia. She is awesome. And still rooting for Dale on TC! I saw him on Broadway (the street not the stage) the other day! I was like, um, do you remember me from when you lived on Gibbons? He did so we talked about that. He is super nice! And is still rocking the fuax-hawk!

Okay, well this is doing that weird typing thing where the cursor is moving really slowly. Cleaning the mold off my bathroom ceiling tonight. Gross. If anyone knows of any home remedies that will get rid of this problem forever, please let me know!!

Peace.

PS...I finally know who killed Laura Palmer!!!!!
