Couldn't Sleep a Wink Last Night

First of all, I am so excited that an Argo tea is moving into a building on Ohio (by Pockets). Not that I don't love me some Starbucks, but I love that Argo has options. And by options I mean lots of tea and other flavored drinks. And just seems more natural (like ingredient-wise). Plus, they have chocolate chip scones. Not sure when it's opening, but needless to say, I am excited. Obviously.

Since last Friday (Oct. 17) I have been cat and house sitting for a family friend. They live in a two flat in Lincoln Park, and I'm pretty sure Basil (my cat) thinks that we have actually moved here. He LOVES it there. The cat that lives there, Cashmere, does not. He hates us. More Basil than me though. Poor little guy. Basie just doesn't get that when Cashie hisses at him, it isn't an invitation for him to chase him up the stairs. Oh Basil. Yesterday, they had a stare down in the kitchen. It was pretty hysterical.

While there I have enjoyed the fact that they have RCN cable (and a computer with Internet!) and get every freaking channel. It's the best. My new favorite tv show is "Whatever, Martha" on the Fine Living Network. I hope that I can access the show online once I get home, because it is seriously awesome. That Alexis Stewart is pretty funny. And also, in the past week I have watched Hairspray (the Zach Efron version), Marie Antoinette (which I decided I really need to buy), The Da Vinci Code, The Da Vinci COED (which I only had on by accident for three seconds before I realized I read the title wrong and was not watching Dan Brown's story but soft core porn, woops!), Waiting for Guffman, and part of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Also, the have millions of books. I need to ask if I can borrow some. There are already like 5 I want to read!!

Anyways, my little staycation will be over on Wednesday. But I have a feeling I will need to bring Basil back to visit. He will miss his fun vacation home haha.

So with my Chase Leisure rewards Card, I think I am getting an Amazon gift card and a subscription to Marie Claire. And then I can buy all the movies and books I want. Well, up to $25 but still! Oh, also stopped at Barnes and Noble since they are having a 30 percent off sale due to closing at the Diversy location. Bought a new journal, Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by Louis Carroll, and Three Lives by Gertrude Stein. Both are the B&N version, which are already pretty cheap, so with the discount they were a good price. I almost bought some of the Gossip Girl series, but decided that is more of check out of the library thing.

Sushi with Melissa tonight!! And then Gossip Girl, Heroes, and the Hills!

The guy sure looks like plant food to me...

So I just read somewhere that someone is doing a remake of the Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). And yes, I am aware that the title of this post is from Little Shop of Horror and not RHPS, but its October so you know, it fits.

Anyways, why is someone doing a remake? The original is fantastic. And nothing could compare. Seriously. And just in case you want to get up and dance before leaving work today, here is a video of the "Time Warp" part. Love.

What is everyone dressing up as for Halloween?

I'm in Miami Bitch

Okay well not really but I promise an actual post tomorrow. And yes, anonymous is totally right...I did hang out with the cutest two year old EVER a few weeks ago. We had so much fun. Even though he pretended not to know my name.

I wanna fold 'em like they do in Texas please...

I am so behind on this blog! But I was busy with a huge NOW event that went on this past Wednesday and went really well! It was at the Newberry Library. Same as last year. This year we did deep purple and then super light green linens (only on select tables) and it looked so nice. I love the Newberry. It is so pretty. And the Hearty Boys catered, Yum yum.

Anywho, so lets see, was busy all this week at work with work, NOW, and then with helping out at the conference that my company and IREM is having. It's at the Hilton on S. Michigan. It also is so beautiful. And huge. And old. I love looking around and trying to imagine what it looked like when it first opened. Also, our staff office was in one of their "Private Dining Rooms" on the third floor. They no longer use them as dining areas, but how cool is that! I wonder who used to dine there back in the day. I should go read the history of that particular hotel. And I am still trying to find out if my apartment building always was an apartment building or what. I haven't quite figured out where to look or the right information when I do think I am on the right trail.

Tonight is the Early to Bed party, but first is dinner with Debbie and Rebecca at Big Chicks and then meeting Jess and a surprise guest at the store. Fun! Tomorrow is a fancy cinnamon pedicure at Blueberry Moon Salon, with all proceeds going to breast cancer research and then home to pack and back to where I am cat sitting in Lincoln Park. And then dinner for Jamie's birthday at Real Tenchitilan for Mexican!

I think tonight after work I need to go and get some sort of obnoxious feather headband. And I need slippers.

Play that funky music white boy...

So yesterday I learned of a new subculture I knew nothing about: Fregans. My friend Juana was telling me about a friend of her's from college who, was born/lived on 5th Avenue and in Palm Beach, and is now a Fregan. From what I can gather from both Juana and Urban Dictionary, a Fregan is a person who is an Anarchist, most likely doesn't have a job, dumpster dives, is a vegan only when food is NOT coming out of a dumpster or isn't free, doesn't believe in soap, and most likely is a trust fund baby rebelling against their wealthy parents. Oh, and they hitch hike and what not to travel. And stay in communal houses. And believe waste lives off waste or feeds off of it or something. Oh, and I also learned that Chicago has squatters. So anyways, in the midst of this rebellion, these folks don't vote. Gah. If you want to eat food you find in a dumpster and and not shower, fine, but at least vote. Or spend your trust funds on helping the homeless, who, you know, actually have to scavenge for food, not by choice.

Am I being to narrow-minded? Probably. But its how I feel. In case you didn't know today is the last day to register to vote. So go vote. Now! Even all you Fregans.

And then come November 4...ya'll better BARAK AND ROLL! Obama/Biden 2008.

The La La Land Machine

OMf-ingGawd. I am OBSESSED with Japanese nail art. Like doing crazy stuff on your nails. But just to my actual nails. I don't need or want super long acrylics or anything. Tomorrow I am going to see if Mini Nails by my house does it. I think I will start small with flowers and rhinestones. And maybe glitter. Probably with a light pink polish. And then work my way up to the glitz. I saw one of a cute Halloween scene. Hmmm maybe I will do a black/silver french manicure for Halloween! Although not the most professional look. I do need just a normal manicure for Women Who Dared though. No glitz. Well maybe a flower or a rhinstone. OOOOOH or maybe the Venus symbol? Okay maybe not so much. Anyways, nail art or not I think I'm going to get a manicure tomorrow. Or do my own and buy some stuff at Ulta or Walgreens to add myself. But that could be a di-saster! ahaha

Anyways, going to Mike's tonight we are getting wings and probably watching Super Bad. Tomorrow night I am babysitting. I can't wait to see how SNL spoofs the VP debates.

xoxo

PS will post some cool nail art pictures soon!

I shopped for purses when I walked through the door...

So I really want leopard print ballet flats. I checked at Forever 21 and they have them online, just not in stores yet. They are like $12. What I really want are the Tory Burch leopard print flats. So I thought I would check on eBay. And they are there. In my size. FOR MORE MONEY THAN THEY ACTUALLY COST. Seriously. They retail for $225. And are actually on sale on her Web site for $168...but only in a size 5. And I have small feet but not that small. Anyways, the pair I found on eBay are $245 plus shipping. I still plan on just getting a cheapy pair somewhere. I think at some point this fall I will check out those random stores along Belmont right by the Belmont L stop. Usually they have pretty cheap shoes.

Tapas with Mike tonight. Yum.

Ten-year high school reunion tomorrow night.

And hopefully starting the second Twilight book at some point.

Nose Jobs and Champagne

So did anyone else get a little teary-eyed when Isis was sent a-packing on Models last night? Because I did. Aside from Tyra's idiotic speech, I really do that that Isis is a great role model for the LGBTQ community, namely post- and pre-op transgendered individuals. I loved her and still think that once she gets her confidence back, she will be an amazing model. However, I do think she needs to tone down those giant earrings. Not a good look IMO. I mean I am all for accessorizing, but those things were going to eat her head! I thought she looked really pretty in the Seventeen Magazine shoot she got to do. And furthermore, I think that Lauren Brie's photo should have been called first. Girl looks like any other blonde mall rat in person but damn does she take a fieeeeerce picture. But she looks too much like Caridee, so well that doesn't bode well for her. Oh and poor Samantha. I don't think she intentionally posed like she did at the end of the runway or tried to look strippery. Jeremy Scott needed to take it down a notch. I mean I love his designs (well some of them) but yeah, he was a wee bit harsh. If he had such an issue then she should have been cut after the runway and not Hannah. But oh well. Also, loved seeing what Chantal was up too. She was my favorite during that cycle. Anyways, these are my favorite pictures from last night. Just a POI, I also loved Sheena's photo, but for some reason she isn't up on the ANTM Web site. Weird.

Heart-Shaped Bruises for Both of Us

I am pretty sure this will be me when I am 92.

From: Black Book Magazine

The Late Bloomer: Zelda Kaplan, nightlife legend, photographed at Bungalow 8, New York City.
Zelda Kaplan, 92, sits tucked away in a booth at the back of Bungalow 8, one of her favorite New York City haunts, sipping from a champagne flute. Scheduling an appointment with her days earlier came with the following caveat: “Remember, sweetie, don’t call until four or five in the afternoon. Otherwise, I’ll still be in bed.” A trained ballroom dancer, the twice-married humanitarian has traveled throughout Ethiopia to raise awareness about female genital mutilation (“It’s excision, not circumcision,” she says). These days, she saunters about town at all hours of the morning, wearing that cylindrical hat of hers, draped in rich fabrics she discovered while touring Africa. “I like to go out,” she says, her sharp eyes shielded by sunglasses. “I like to be with nice people, although not the types who get sloppy, sloppy drunk.” She remembers, after the loss of her second husband, “going home at night and thinking, My gosh, this is so boring! But how could I possibly go out without an escort? And then one night, I went to Bungalow 8. There were people in line, but I was let right in. I went straight to the bar. To take up a table by oneself is awful, and besides, I wanted to talk to people.” Which is precisely what she did, forming a core group of friends, many of whom could pass as her great-grandchildren. And that’s just fine with Kaplan, who has little patience when her few remaining nonagenarian peers complain about rheumatoid arthritis. “After two or three minutes, I’m like, Whatever,” she say, smiling. The club scene, of course, has changed drastically since Kaplan first hit the dance floor, and she’s the first to notice: “Women today, these girls, present their fannies to men by bending over at the bar. And the men, they come up close behind them, you know, moving. I’ve presented myself to men like that before, but never in public.”

On a different note...so excited for new Ugly Betty and The Office tomorrow. Still not so sure how I feel about 90210. More Brenda please!

You better Work...

I love Elina on Top Models. Although I would have cried too if they gave me Carrot Top's hair. But she rocked it. And her photo and Lauren Brie's was gorgeous.

Elina.

Lauren Brie.

So I am thinking about moving this blog over to Buzznet. I feel like I may get more readers. However, I am not actually sure how to move archived blogs over. Hmmm I will look into it.

Plus, I TOTALLY am a buzz maker. Plus, if all those scene-y 19-year-old girls with pink hair and piercings can be Internet-famous then so can this 28-year-old, brown-haired, feminist and self-proclaimed pop culture whore. Yo.

You think you are so cute with your Tina Fey glasses...

So the National Organization for Women has decided to endorse Obama-Biden. Not that there is any huge surprise in that, but just in case anyone reads this/knows that I am the president of Chicago NOW and wants to know. I'm pretty sure that McCain-Palin was not even an option.

How funny was the Tina Fey/Amy Poehler skit on SNL? LOVED when Tina Fey started posing. Too funny. The rest of the show, or at least the parts I saw, were no parts funny. And not because of Michael Phelps. Those skits were NOT funny. As in the writing. At least in my opinion. At one point I felt uncomfortable. And offended.

Anyways, so let's see. I am a bit upset that all SIX designers left on Project Runway got to show at Bryant Park. I don't see how that is fair. I looked at some of their collections online, and Leanne's is my favorite. I loved the color pallet she chose. And of course, all the dresses in Kenely's line looked the same. Joe's was okay. And I didn't have a chance to really look at the rest yet.

So on my the topic of my weird Hello Kitty obsession, I was walking past the Gay Mart last night and saw a HK lunch box...however, I am still into the toaster. But can one have too much HK? I think Mariah would agree that it's okay!! The Gay Mart also has a shirt that says "Hot Tranny Mess." Awesome. I love that store. They have tons of stuff. A lot of it useless toys. But cool nonetheless.

Also, I randomly downloaded some French rap. It's pretty cool. I'm into it.

Revenge is so 12 Hours Ago

In case you can't tell, that was my favorite line from Gossip Girl last night. Just one question...where are the parents? And are they setting up for a Vanessa Rufus hook up? I mean does she have no other friends? And she is home schooled?

Anyways, The Hills. Wow. Something is wrong with Spencer. And Heidi needs to run as fast as she can. He is so controlling and emotionally abusive, it is uncomfortable to watch. And I hope for her sake, and her sister's sake, that the majority of that was scripted. Which, I mean, they were all wearing different outfits yet it was suppossed to be the same day? What? Editors, we know that you are over this show but pay attention!! Anyways, I can not even believe how rude he was to Holly. If I was Holly, I would just stay at a hotel. And when Spencer was so rude when she said she had been looking for a job and he made some comment about how she was doing it from the couch? Um yeah Spencer, most people do apply for jobs over the Internet. From their COUCHES. Jeez. Seriously, how can Heidi stand him? And I am over the Audrina and Lauren drama. These girls needs to realize that they can have friends that aren't necessarily their best friends. And I am a little jealous that Lauren got to meet Lady GaGa.

So anywho, my high school reunion (10 year) is coming up in a few weeks. I need to figure out something to wear. I am thinking jeans and some sort of cute top, tank or normal, depending on the weather. I sort of want to get a cute pin stripe vest and pair that with a white tee, dark jeans, black heels, and lots of necklaces. And perhaps a braided headband from American Apparel. Or maybe I will do leggings and some such dress/shirt. I also want to order this great sweater/coat thing from Lauren Conrad's line. Seriously, her new line (at least in my opinion) is her best yet. Less plain. I am interested to see her designs and Christian's at the Emmys.

Glad to hear that my Jonas Brothers did not get upset over Russell Brand's comments.

And also, I need these. Brought to you by PopKiller.

Life touch my hand as we dream of golden skans...

Babysat last night...read and watched the last half hour of BH9 2.0. I still don't have an opinion on it yet though. I did love the Brenda and Kelly scenes. Love that Brenda is going to be helping out with the school play. For some reason I think Annie will end up getting the lead. And I feel like Dixon and Naomi or Dixon and Silver are going to date. Or something. If it is anything like the first 90210, then there will be a lot of inter-friend dating going on. And I sort of hope that Steve Sanders makes an appearance. I am sure Ian Ziering would be happy to come back! And I do think this show needs Donna Martin back. I mean, doesn't David Silver want to come and visit his sisters? Oh how I miss the old one. I think I am going to stop by the video store on my way home tonight and see if they have it on DVD.

Anywho, so I am reading the book Katherine by Anya Seton. It is a historical fiction novel about Katherine Swynford and the Duke of Lancaster (apparently most of the royal family stems from them). It is so good. I can't wait to read the rest of her novels. I highly recommend it.

This Tuesday is book club at Rise! Yum! Can't wait for the honey roll! And some interesting discussion about Twilight. I was reading somewhere, I think on some blog, that Meyer was going to write a 5th novel called Midnight something-or-other, and it was going to be Twilight told from Edward's point-of-view. But I guess since some of it leaked onto the Internet, she isn't going to do it. I think that would be interesting. And I would be interested to see just how she would pull it off. In any case, as much flack as I gave the first one, I am totally going to read the other three. And then go back to Anne Rice. Vampire LeStat, here I come. Hmmm maybe a trip to the used book store this weekend?

Saturday night I am going to see/hear American English (a Beatles cover band) at Ravinia. Should be pretty fun. I saw them years ago at Frontier Days. If you also are going to be there Saturday, let me know!

My newest obsession of the day? Peace Signs. I think I need a t-shirt and some sort of obnoxiously big necklace. In like hot pink. ahaha

I'm a penny in a diamond mine...

So I watched the first hourish of the "new" 90210. The first half hour was pretty bad. It got better, and I read that it gets better in the second hour, even though Brenda is on for 3 seconds. Overall, I will def give it another chance (well and finish watching the episode) but I didn't love it. I didn't love the acting. And the girls on there are way to skinny. I know that they are young but still, oy. I do love Erin Silver and Lucille Bluth (Grandma Wilson). Love that she is always drunk and makes absurd comments that actually are true and make sense in the context of the situation. But the show needs more diversity as do most teen shows. I did love that Cory Kennedy made an appearance. Oh and that actress who plays Naomi? Looks 35. Like worse than Gabriel Carteras! But Andrea Zuckerman's daughter is on the show. Not a major character but she does do the morning announcements and takes journalism class. Yes, that is what they refer to it as, journalism class. So more review on the rest of it Friday after I re-watch the ep when I am babysitting.

Models starts tonight! Woo! You know I love me some Tyra and the Jays. And a transgender contestant. I can't wait until that very special episode!

My newest obsession? Scarves. There is this purple plaid one in the window of Gap that I must get. And I want one with skulls on it. I will have to check out Forever 21.

Oh, and I am loving the new singlge "Single" by New Kids. Seriously. Good stuff.

When I Grow Up...

I am pretty sure that today after work, I am stopping at the Sanrio store and buying a Hello Kitty toaster. It is awesome. And I need it. And I have always loved Hello Kitty waaaaay before she was trendy and her only friends were My Melody and the Little Twin Stars. I even had this HK sponged that changed color in water.

Anyways, now she travels with an entourage and designer Tarina Tarentino designs HK's "goth" line with little HK dressed as "Lolita." Um...weird? Sort of. Although when I looked it up it seems like it's more a trend thing in Japan so it sort of makes sense. But still, a little creepy for a kids toy right? And everything costs like $350. Luckily, the toaster does not. There also is a waffle maker but I don't need that. I also sort of want the big plush cushion of ChocoCat.

I also wanted this shower curtain from Target that was "Mod" HK until I remembered I am not 12 and not Mariah Carey. So the toaster will do...isn't it fabu?

Like sort of whimsical and eclectic? And it makes sense given my love of all things feline! :)

And yes, I posted this myself. It's not a weird spam infiltration!

Who likes to rock the party?

I'm so sad. The corner store across the street from my house is closing because they lost their lease. The owner told me that the landlord doesn't want a store there, he wants a bank or something else. Which, fine as long as it's Chase. But whatever, even the the store sold stuff that sometimes already expired, it was still a great place to run to for a quick fix when I was too lazy to actually walk a block to Walgreens. But the owner said they have another store in the Loop. So that's good. At least they don't have to start from scratch.

Anyway, so let's see. Friday night I watched "The Other Boleyn Girl." Independent from the book I thought it was okay, but compared to the book it was just eh. I thought that Scarlett and Natalie were great as Mary and Anne. Scarlett played the role so sincere, which was exactly the same vibe I got from book-Mary. Natalie Portman is good in everything. Although, in the book, I don't remember Anne actually getting upset over all the issues she created at the court but I read it a while ago, so I could be wrong. Saturday I took Bas to the vet (clean bill of health!), ran errands, went to Kristen's for a NOW board BBQ, and then went with Mike to St. Charles to Alex and Karla's. It was really fun. We made s'mores! Yum. I haven't had a s'more in ages so it was a nice little treat.

This weekend is Labor Day, Cubs, and JAMIE! Woo! Doing a little kick as I type this.

Also, I may be back online in my apartment sometime soon!

The Hills tonight! I wonder when we will get to see the She-Pratt/Doug/Lauren drama and the Holly hangs out with Lauren drama.

Kiss Me...Like You Mean It

Right. So today for lunch, D and I went to CPK (California Pizza Kitchen for those of you not akin to my abbreviations). She ordered her usual original chopped, and I ordered the Mediterranean salad. With extra sun-dried tomatoes. Simple enough. The food comes, and I immediately stab a hunk of feta cheese...and then spit it out. It was rancid. Like tasted and smelled moldy. Gross. I know. So the waiter comes back, and I'm like this cheese is moldy can I have a new salad with no cheese? And a new salad meaning like made fresh. He comes back with the manager who brings me my new salad and a side of feta. Um, what? Yeah. So he's like "oh well our feta is in the bryne so that's why it takes like that. Have you ever eaten it like that? I promise it's not moldy." Okay first of all, I know cheese. And maybe I am wrong, but feta should never smell moldy. But like I said I could be wrong. Secondly, please don't talk to me like I am an idiot. It's a chain restaurant. Not a Michelin 5-star. Thirdly, just say you apologize but you use strong cheese. Don't try and convince me I want to eat it AFTER I already told you no. And lastly, comp the meal or offer a free app or dessert. I mean really. Have you never seen Kitchen Nightmares?

Anywho, songs I downloaded recently that I can't stop listening to:
-So What, P!NK
-A-Punk, Vampire Weekend
-Get Back, Demi Lovato (I had to involve Disney somehow)
-Just Dance, Lady GaGa

Tomorrow is Basil's first vet visit. I am slightly nervous. He has been pretty aggressive the last few days. I need to start using the water spray bottle. Oh Bas.

NOW BBQ and then out with Mike, Alex, and Karla on Saturday.

I'm the Mutha-Flippin...

Sorry I have been so delinquent, but I am back in business with both blogs now. My other blog is here, in case you forgot or just don't know. Read it. Love it. Worship me I mean it. haha

Anywho, SO my sister got married this past Saturday! The wedding (at the James Hotel) was beautiful and she looked amazing. It was so much fun (and stressful) and now they are honeymooning in Peru with wet luggage thanks to American Airlines and Tropical Storm Fay. But yeah, we even got some wedding crashers! ahaha I will post some pics tomorrow or later today. I loved my hair. Bruce did an awesome updo with teasing and a poof and it was just great. I looked so grown up ahaha. Oh and Rene did my eyes smokey, it was hot, well as hot as one can get for a wedding. Mike had fun too! It was his first Hora! I think he was scared at first but then had to assist with the lifting of the bride and groom in chairs. And also, I love the James Hotel. I wish I could actually afford to stay there on a regular basis for fun. Seriously, so comfy. And the loft rooms are really cool. I wanted to hang out on the chaise/bed and watch the projector tv!

Moving on...so is Nastia really going to get the gold for the uneven bars? I knew something was fishy. I missed that one, but did see Shawn on the beam. Freaking great. She is so cute. I just want to give her a big hug, but not in a creepy way. Also, did everyone see when LoLo Johnson clipped/knocked down the hurdle? Oh man. My heart went out to her. She was visibly so upset (and rightfully so). But seemed happy that an American won anyways. In case you can't tell, I am obsessed with the Olympics.

Um, and last night's Project Runway? Was my favorite episode. Ever. I heart all things drag queen-related. And those girls were FIERCE. I loved the hot pink jumpsuit and Joe's model rocked it like nobody's business. And it was great to see Chris again. He rules. He needs his own show on how to design and be friends with a drag queen. Seriously. These ladies were fabulous. And to even support my love of drag queens, I just read a book by an ex drag queen called Candy Everybody Wants by Josh Kilmer-Purcell. It's a great read. I highly recommend it.

And lastly, I finally watched Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. So awesome. NPH is fantastic. As is Joss Wheden.

Some people might call this a fluster cluck. On the Upper East Side, we call it Sunday afternoon.

Last night we decided to change up our usual executive board meeting location (for NOW) and had the meeting at Juana's apartment. She made us falafel, hummus, and tahini sauce. It was delicious. I might have the next meeting at my place. I have a recipe for a cold vegan pasta salad that could work. (Sidenote: one of the member's is a vegan, so that's why I am brainstorming vegan meals). And maybe some sort of three bean salad. Not that I actually know how to make that. But I am sure I could find a recipe. Or I can get something pre-made at Whole Foods. But it is about time I actually stated cooking stuff. Even if pasta salad is easy to make. I think.

So the wedding is in THREE days! Tonight is tanning and typing my speech...and then Friday is mani/pedis, more tanning, rehearsal, and dinner at Adobe. And then well, Saturday is the Big Day! I have already been planning my poses. I just need to convince my sister we need some "editorial" shots as well as shots as though we are posing for America's Next Top Model posing challenge. Speaking of, despite the weird crimped hair, I thought Tyra looked fierce in those pictures of her in Italy celebrating Italian Vouge's black Issue. One of the pics is of TyTy in the middle of all the ladies and she looks great. I mean she can really bring it when she needs to.

Alrighty, back to work. Staying semi late at work tonight so I can get ahead on some stuff since I am out Friday and Monday.

I'll have to take yo' ass to church!

Yesterday, on the 151 bus, on my way to babysit, a youngish girl got on the bus at Oak. She clearly had been at the beach as she was wearing a bikini...and a towel. On the bus. She had a bag with her that looked to have clothes in it (it was partially open) so I'm not sure why she felt the need to just wrap a towel around her suit for her bus ride. I mean isn't that what bathing suite cover ups are for? Oh well, I don't know the circumstances, so I will assume that maybe she just left in a hurry. But still, a little odd.

I babysat last night...sort of watched The Bears game...and then watched the SYTYCD finale. I am happy that Joshua won! I would have been happy with Katee, so at least she got top girl.

So Missy and Todd's wedding week has officially begun! Tonight is their Auf Ruf and then this weekend I am helping them with some misc items they need to get done. Oh and write my speech. I also need to go get my Mystic Tan on as to not look pale in the pictures!

Her Name was Lola...

So great way to start the morning: Still no power, dentist appointment/cavity filled, and Barry Manilow blasting on the radio at 7:45am...yeeeeeah. Good times.

So along with thousands of other people I am without power due to the heavy storms last night. Normally I don't mind. But it's hot. I may stop at get some sort of battery-operated fan on my way home just in case. Although one of my outlets works, so I might see if my fan works first. Fingers crossed it's fixed when I get home though!

Basically I just used candles and a flashlight and read. So that may be my plan tonight. Although I am meeting with Kathleen for NOW stuff at the library so at least I have something to do. I plan on finally getting a library card today too! As much as I love buying books, even if I do get used, I think I will save more money this way. However, I have a stack of books I need to get through before I add anything to the pile.

I can't believe that Chuck Bass was maybe in town this past weekend. OMG. I mean he does make poor fashion choices in real life, but still. HOT. And I think he is 21 so it's okay for me to say that.

And finally, what is with Miley Cyrus and her friend Mandy's "three" sign they do in their pictures. Did I just type that? I can't believe that I actually care.

How'd My Shirt Get Inside Out...

Lots of things. First, babysat this past weekend at the Palmer House Hilton (parents were at a wedding, I watched the kids before and then when the went to sleep). That hotel is really beautiful! I have never been there before. It's massive! It reminded me of one of the scenes from The Dark Knight, but I'm pretty sure that it wasn't filmed there. Anyways, so yeah, the kids I watched are super cute and I bonded with the little girl right away. She was the flower girl and after the ceremony we made flower quesadillas and pretended to eat them. And just an FYI, these kids are cousin's to the amazing Joshua that I always talk about! He wasn't there but I did get to spend sometime with his grandparents! Yay Joyce and Barry! :)

So before the wedding, the bridal party (15 bridesmaids people, FIFTEEN, in yellow) and the goomsmen were drinking and getting pretty hammered. One guy could barely walk up the steps. I understand having a glass of wine or champaign before but jeez. I would be pissed if my bridal party was sauced before the actual wedding! So during the ceremony I sat outside in the hotel bar and had a Shirley Temple and snack mix. Seriously, if you are ever at the Lockwood Bar there, they have great Asian-themed snack mix! Delicious. When the kids went to bed, I watched the movie Penelope. It is so good. Everyone needs to go rent it. And then I watched half of The Muppets Take Manhattan. I forgot how much I LOVE the muppets. Kermit always my favorite. And oh yeah, I forgot about Rizzo the Rat and then Gonzo and Camilla the chicken! Love. I didn't really remember this movie that much, but I can sing songs from The Great Muppet Caper...at the Happiness Hotel.

On Saturday, pre meeting my sister at her last dress fitting and babysitting, I ran some errands and wore my new heart-shaped sunglasses. They were a hit! I took a little detour to Land of the Lost and got a really cute pink vintage night gown. It's long and works as a dress (but needs a belt) but I may cut it and make a cute flowy shirt or just a short dress. Although I don't trust myself, so I may need some assistance. I was in a rush so I didn't get a chance to really look around. I'll have to go back when I have more time. Although, I do think that there t-shirts are over-priced.

I had pancakes for dinner last night. It was great. I am usually not a breakfast at night person, but for some reason, pancakes sounded good. And they were. With strawberries and bananas.

If anyone was at Lolla...let me know detes! I do know that LaLohan and Samantha Ronson were in town. If I had known that I totally would have stalked. ahaha

I'm the only sour cherry on your fruit stand...

I was playing around on Kitson's Web site and low and behold they are now selling (re-selling?) Member's Only jackets. For $145. I am totally pissed because last year I found a lime green one at Land of the Lost and totally should have bought it since it was like $20. And also, when these jackets were first in style, my sister and I had matching magenta ones by the way, there was no way that were that pricey. I mean my whole family had one, and no way would my parents spend that on one jacket for their elementary and middle school aged children. I get that times have changes and the economy is different (although weren't we in a recession back in the 80s too?) but really, why are they $145?! Why can't they sell for what they used to cost. At Burlington Coat Factory. And Kohls.

So anyways, I decided in the spirit of re-doing my bedroom bedding, I also am going to make over my bathroom. I'm thinking deep, rich colors. I need to go to World Market. I love that place.

And after my sister's wedding, and once the weather cools off, I am totally going to start going on mini-adventures so I have something interesting to write about. Either by myself or with people. So if anyone has any cool places they think I should visit...let me know! I think my first one might be going to the Alley and Medusa's Circle to try on corsets and fun platform shoes. And pleather pants. And take pictures. Funny ones. Not pervy. Who's with me?! Britta...I think you should come for a visit so you can accompany me! :)

Song of the moment: "About a Girl," The Academy Is

My guess for top 2: Katee and Chelsie or Katee and Joshua.

I Wear my Sunglasses at Night

I bought the sunglasses! But I got them from Forever 21 instead since they were way cheaper. So for those of you also interested in buying yourself a pair, they have them in red and white. I got them in white. And if you are confused as to what I am talking about, see the below image in the previous post.

I started reading my next book club book, which is 'Twilight' by Stephanie Meyer. I really like it so far. It is actually a young adult novel, but it sort of has that Harry Potter-type read in that it can appeal to a larger audience then the one it's intended. But yeah, it's good and really interesting. I recommend it.

Project Runway, Shear Genius, and SYTYCD are all tonight! Woo!

This is a short post. Sorry!

Pocket Full of Sunshine

Okay, so am I too old to get heart-shaped sunglasses? Because I want them. In white. Here are what they look like in red:

They are $13 from PopKiller. I need to link that site. It's way cool. And yes, I just said way cool.

I finally saw The Dark Knight. I thought it was really good. And Heath Ledger was great as the Joker. It was sad to watch him though. Then Mike and I went to Chilis. I think this weekend we are going to watch Batman Begins because I have never seen that one. So another Batman weekend for me coming up. And babysitting both Thursday and Saturday.

My top songs in rotation on my Ipod...feel free to make fun of me:
1. Burnin Up, The Jonas Brothers
2. Sour Cherry, The Kills
3. Voyage Voyage, Kate Ryan
4. Johnny Winter, The Van Jets
5. 7 Things, Miley Cyrus

I am sure that will change in a few days though.

My top shows of the summer:
1. Swingtown
2. Project Runway
3. SYTYCD
4. The Hills (Aug. 14th people!!)
5. Shear Genius

I'm into writing out lists these days.

Alrighty, well let me know if it's okay to get those sunglasses.

Oh yo oh yo....catch this...

OMG(omguguys!) seeing 'Pretty Woman' on the big screen was so great. I went to see a screening of it last night at Century. Melissa had tickets because the S Factor was doing their first Girl's Night. It was so fun. Her brother's gf also came as did KJ. They had a raffle before to win classes or parties at the studio, but I didn't win. I wish it just wasn't so durn expensive to take classes there! But yeah, I totally forgot how much I LOVE that movie, even if I own it. Plus I feel like there were some extended scenes I had never seen before. Such as Vivian taking Edward to the Blue Banana to find Kit and then before they leave, one of the drug dealers tells Viv she owes him $200 and Edward totally threatens him. Unless of course, I just don't remember that part. Also, the part with the snails still makes me laugh every time. As does the "cinder-fucking-rella" line.

Tonight S&M are coming over with their cat because I am cat sitting in two weeks, and we want to make sure Bas and Cashie get along. I have a feeling Basil will totally want to play but Cash will want none of it. I better tell B to behave himself! :) Tomorrow night Mike and I are going to din din with Jess and Tim to this Cuban place called Cafe Bolero. I read the menu and everything sounds delicious, even though I would never eat half the things on the menu, they still sound good. Saturday is my sister's shower and then Sunday, I think I'm going to my sister's. Not sure. So busy weekend coming up!

I ordered a really cute gladiator sandals from Old Navy, and I am really excited about them. Although, if I was famous, I am sure that Heather and Jessica would totally Fug me as they don't like the kind that go up your ankles.

Next Thursday I start my new weekly babysitting job! I am meeting the family tomorrow after work!

If you text it I'll delete it...

So I finally get a comment to work on my other blog and it's totally from some gross teenage porn site. They didn't agree with what I wrote about teenagers posing in suggestive poses (big shock since their Web site is devoted to nekked teens) but that I have an interesting POV. I emailed the people over at today.com to see what the deal is with comments, since I did a test one and I know my sister posted a few and nothing is showing up.

Anyways, I saw a sneak peek at what is coming up on the next season of The Hills...and I can't wait to see what Audrina's "I don't caaaare" statement to Lo is in relation too! And Stephanie Pratt and Lauren get into an altercation over some boy that both Lauren and the She-Pratt seem to like and date. I just hope that Lauren also blames the boy in this situation. August 14 people. Woo!

Today at lunch I went over to the NOW office to get some info in order to re-establish our Ed Fund. Looking through all the old files was actually pretty fun. I found 20-year-old clippings about Gays in the Military and why they should or should not be allowed to joins, old clippings about the PRIDE parade, and all the agendas and minutes from like the last 15 years. When I have more time, I think I want to go back and look at the stuff more carefully. It reminds me of how much I loved looking at my sorority's old photo albums. And I am still a little sad that they painted over all the stuff in our basement. I liked seeing the paintings and names of former Phi's. :)

So yeah...a little disappointed that Autumn was not cast as the next Elle Woods on Broadway, she has such an amazing voice I wish her all the luck and hope she gets some awesome parts from this. I do think that with some work Bailey will be good. She really does embody the part, I just hope she can convey all the right emotions during some other the less peppy numbers.

Alrighty, more later. Sorry about the lack of updates. It's hard having two blogs!

They paved paradise and put up a parking lot...

I think I may have used this title before. Anywho, Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search for the Next Elle Woods. Um, how in holy Hell is Rhiannan still in the mix? I am sure she is probably a super sweet girl...and does have that spunk, but Emma and Natalie were WAY better singers/dancers IMO. I am happy that Autumn is still in though and was a little pissed when Bernie Telsey said she wasn't really a leading lady. Okay, maybe not for this cheese-fest of a musical, but I could totally see her rocking Eponine in Les Miz. I mean really. And Baily? Eh, I get that she looks like "Elle" but for me, she just doesn't have it. I am excited that Lauren is going to be Margot in the tour though...I am for sure seeing it when it comes here. I mean, yes, it's cheesy but whatever. It will be a fun show to see.

I do hope that the bring South Pacific to Chicago.

So yeah, I have to go pick up Webster's ashes today after work. So sad. :( I miss him so much. I bet Basil and Webs would have been the best of friends.

Hey, you're too funky for me...

HelloHello! So let's see...this weekend was pretty chill. Friday night I caught up on Swingtown and other shows. My sister came over for a nano-second and I read for a little bit. Saturday my sister came over again and hung out with Bas for a bit while I was at the doctor. Then I came home and she had left (with Todd) for the Cub's game...and I watched more Arrested Development, napped, and read. And yesterday...I FINALLY finished Gone with the Wind. OMG (OMGUguys!) It was soo good. And yes, I am aware that everyone else has read it, but whatever. I want to read it again. Ha. And see the movie. I am kind of curious to see how the follow up book did, although it was written by someone else, so not sure about it. If anyone has actually read it, let me know your thoughts.

Anyways, also, I finished season 1 of Arrested Development. How I never got into this show when it was on the first time is beyond me. It is so freaking hilarious. I can't wait to watch more tonight...it will be my reward after I call all these people I went to HS with to get their e-mail addresses so we can send out an Evite for the reunion. That I'm only 50% sure I am going to! haha

Tonight after work I am running over to Alfred's to pick up my newly altered bridesmaid dress and then home. And maybe to Unabridged to get Twilight and a new planner. I also want to go over to American Apparel but I'm not as I need to save money! I went in the other day and saw so much stuff that I want! Ugh! Oh well.

Tomorrow is the All Star game...not that I actually care since my boy Mark DeRosa is no parts on the team RUDE! Wednesday is Amanda's for some reunion planning stuff and then Thursday is the monthly NOW meeting. This weekend is Amanda's wedding part 3.

Alrighty, don't forget to be readin my other blogs kiddos!

PS I really like the Jolie-Pitt baby names!

Basically what we're gonna do is dance...

Bonjour! Okay so now that I am back in the swing of things, I should let you all know, that I know will be writing two blogs that are mine personally. And then will be a contributing writing for the Chicago NOW blog. Anywho, my newest blog is something I am supposedly getting paid for. I'm sure it's totally some shady get-rich-quick-scheme as I found the posting on Craig's List, but whatever, it will be more pop culture and tv focused then this one. So ch-ch-ch-cheeeck it out beyotches! :)

Anyways, I thought i would let you all know about the newest addition in my life...I adopted a one-year-old tabby cat named Basil (pronounced the British way thanks). He is a bundle of energy and loves to purr!! He is so sweet. I still miss my wonderful Webster though too. I bet Basil would have loved him, and Webs would have loved someone to help boss him around.

I can't stop listening to the songs from Legally Blonde: The Musical. I blame MTV.

So not everything is coming up roses...

So my previous weekend...I have to sadly tell you all, dear readers, that last Friday, I had to put my wonderful cat, Webster, down. He was 14-15 years old and lived a long and fabulous life. His kidneys were failing him, and it wasn't right to keep him going as I knew the quality of his life was very poor. I miss him so so much but know I did the right thing.

And then, to make matters even worse, after coming home on Sunday after spending the night at the burbs and going to dinner at Wildfire and getting a new pink Nano for my b-day from Mike and then going to brunch with Jess at Milk and Honey (OMG so good) and meeting Stephanie from Top Chef, I come home to discover that my apartment had been broken into. Yep. Luckily I wasn't home. They came through the window and left through the back door. And wore gloves. And took the most RANDOM crap including my laptop (that is 4 years old) and like bags and my freaking silver bullet. Who steals sex toys and leaves expensive shoes and jewelery?! But I am just glad I wasn't home, and that I am poor and have crappy stuff that robbers don't want/can't carry.

PHEW. So yesterday was my birthday! Woo! I ended up getting sushi with Melissa and then went over to Suzi/Michael's to see them and hang out with their cat, Cashmere, because I am in severe feline withdrawl. I miss Webby so much and hate coming home to an empty apartment with no meowing fur ball to meet me at the door. I am going to the Anti-Cruelty Society this weekend to look at cats. I just miss having a mush around.

So tonight I am going to see the Chicago Gay Men's Choir (their show is called The Boys are Back in Town) with Juana and then tomorrow is out for Stacy's b-day at Butterfly and Cleo's. Although you know I will make it only to Butterfly haha. Then Saturday is wedding stuff with my sister, dinner at Blue Water, and an engagement party at Naha. And then Sunday is my sis's bruncheon and then dinner with Kim. Which, by the way, Kim, is it weird that I always say your last name (your married one) with a British accent?!

Anywho, so yeah busy weekend for me! But I have Monday off for my b-day Holiday. I am sad that I have to miss the PRIDE parade because you all know how I love any excuse to wear body glitter, gold lame, and pasties, but I will be enjoying it in spirit from Wilmette! Yay gays! :)

An open letter to the people who agreed to play a certain commercial on MTV

Dear MTV Execs or really, the people who created this commercial:

I am shocked that you played an abstinence-only commercial on your network. Especially one that was so wrong it was appalling. First of all, the boy in the commercial says that he is going to wait for sex, which fine if it is your CHOICE and not because your stupid school health program boasts abstinence-only sex ed. It should be abstinence-based people.

And why? Well, like I said, you have the boy talking about how he is going to wait to have sex and that since he is waiting he doesn't have to worry about getting tested. WRONG! Unless he is abstaining from all sexual activity, which includes oral, he should still get tested as STDs are also passed through other ways besides actual intercourse.

Commercials like this give teens and tweens and who ever else the wrong message. Don't have sex but its okay to do everything else because you don't need to get tested. And like I said, that is wrong. All schools should let Planned Parenthood teach their sex ed as they will TEACH students about actual sex issues and not just where the fallopian tubes are located. Considering that pop culture is super-sexualized (Miley Cyrus, Jamie-Lynn Spears, Ali Lohan...) and all girls think its okay to look and act 25. And if so, then they should know that they can still get an STD if they give a boy a blow job. I mean really people, we need to teach these young adults how and where to get birth control. And I like to believe that if you are too embarrassed to go on the pill or buy condoms, well then you shouldn't be having sex.

However, if you are going to air commercials that reach to a large audience of mostly teens and young kids, you should get the facts straight. Fine if they want to wait to have sex but let them know what other diseases they can catch if they chose to partake in other sexual activities. It's important for them to know the correct information in order to make informed decisions.

Thank you,
S. Bell
Preacher for better sexual education in today's schools.

Everythings Coming Up Roses!

First of all, sorry for the lag time between posts, but Webster (my cat) was sick (kidney issues) and had to go to the vet for a few days, and I was very worried about him. He basically had to get kitty dialysis. And he hates the vet. Hates. And I loved that last Friday, they called and told me that he wasn't depressed, just grumpy. I love my vet. I love that the technicians LOVE Webs and are so nice its great. Anywho, so now my little boo is back at home and recuperating quite well. I have to give him all this crazy medicine which he isn't wild about though.

And YAY to Patti LuPone for winning her second Tony. And for the original cast of Rent singing! I love me some Idina Menzel and those of you who are follows of my blog know I am a sucker for Broadway divas like nobodies business. Also, I just heard that Rondi Reed (winner for August: Osage County) will be playing Madame Morrible in Wicked in Chicago soon! Hurray! So Britta, darling, when I come visit you in NY, we must make sure to see lots and lots of plays and musicals. Including Legally Blonde but mainly In the Heights, South Pacific, and Gypsy. Since Xanadu is coming to Chicago, we can sit that one out. And as for plays, Rock and Roll, 39 Steps, and August: Osage County. Okay thanks. Oh and we will have to stalk celebrities that live in Soho. However, I can do that on my own if need be.

I have more to post, but I am going to do it in a new entry as it has nothing to do with things coming up roses. Or musicals. Or Webster.

The Internet is for Porn

Bonjour! So sorry for the slacking. Anywho, the highlight of my week? Seeing the musical Avenue Q. It was hilarious. And PUPPETS! And Gary Coleman! Well, not the actual Arnold Drummond but an actor (a woman!) playing Mr. Coleman. So hilarious. Like seriously one of the best things I have ever seen. And to continue my Broadway week, tomorrow I am going to see Jersey Boys! I am SO excited. Next on my list are Mama Mia (play and movie!), Dirty Dancing, and Xanadu, which has been announced that it's coming to Chicago at a TBD date. Awesome. Oh and on the subject of gay things, I watched this Gay & Lesbian movie called "Sordid Lives." It's with Delta Burke. And is HYSTERICAL. Leslie Jordan also is in it and he plays Earl (brother boy) who is a gay cross dresser and thinks he is Tammy Wynett. Seriously. Comedy gold people. Plus it has a good message.

Lets see...saw the Sex and the City movie last week. It was so freaking good. I sort of want to see it again. It was a little bit long (I love 90 minute movies so I might be biased) but otherwise, it was great. Loved every single purse involved. Including Samantha's Chanel beach bag. I want a Chanel beach bag. Oh and the purse that Carrie gives Louise? Totally not something I would ever carry around but it was still fabulous. I wish I could do rent-a-bag but alas it's still pretty pricey!

Also this weekend is Amanda's bachelorette party at Nacional 27 tomorrow night for dinner and salsa funness. Then Sunday I need to get down to business and clean my apartment.

Summer television: Swingtown...not sure how I feel about it yet. The pilot was super cheesy in my opinion with all the look let's put every stereotypical 70s thing in one episode so the audience gets it. Trust me. We got it. SYTYCD...sooo excited to actually watch this show from the beginning. And In Plain Sight...haven't watched yet but will this weekend.

Alrighty, time to go get my bridesmaid dress altered.

If we took a holiday...

So I am back from my little holiday to Tampa and Clearwater, Fla. It was really fun (and hot!). I stayed with Jamie and Paul at their house in Tampa and got to meet my new canine nephew Wrigley! OMG he is sooo cute! I miss him! And then on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday I went to hang out at Shady Pines aka Summerville at Beckett Lake, where my grandmother lives! She is doing well and was so happy to have a visitor. I brought her some chocolate and oranges and she was in heaven. And since it was hot outside, I was wearing shorts and a tank top, and like 5 little old ladies offered me their sweaters. Too funny. I was like I know its chilly in here (air conditioning) but its HOT outside, like 90 degrees and humid. But still, they wanted to make sure I was warm!

Anywho, so lets back track...Wednesday night after I got in, Jamie and Paul and Wrigs picked me up and we went back to their house...I ate dinner and then we watched Top Chef. I was so freaking tired though I kept missing the end...when Dale cries. I am still in shock that he went over Lisa, but at the same time, he was not being a good EC. But Lisa's attitude just sucks. And I would have eaten everything on the other team's menu. And I don't even like beets. But that blue cheese dessert sounded amazing. Then Thursday, went to visit my grandma (yes people I DROVE a car, a Nissan Sentra to be exact) and then came back and napped. For dinner, J&P and I went to this Mexican place called Miguel's. It was so good. I had grilled red snapper tacos. Yum. And then Friday did the same thing...except for dinner we went to this place called Baziao, which is like Fogo de Chao. Everything was amazing. The salad bar was one of the best. I still like Brazazz, but if you are ever in the Tampa area and love all things meat, check this place out. Saturday we ate at this cute little pub and then walked around Hyde Park with Wrigs. Then Jamie and I headed to the Nordstrom sale and had CPK for dinner. Oh and in between all this we watched Ugly Betty (how great was Marc and Amanda's cheer), Grey's, and the So You Think You Can Dance auditions. Oh and the Cubs/Pirates game that went into way to many innings. And my boys still lost.

Speaking of Lost...two hour season finale this Thursday! Woot! I can't wait! Pilates and Lost...can't get much better! haha

Anyways, so now its back to work. I am glad that I have less shows now...considering I am obsessed with Gone with the Wind and it's a pretty long book! But I need to finish my book club book first.

Latrz.

She moves in her own way...

I have been such a slacker with the blogging. But anyways lambs, I'm back! SO lets get down to business. Last Friday, as I made my way back to my office with my food court sushi (shut up its really good!), I was accosted by a young woman outside the Verizon store near my office, who shoved a paper at me and said that one of the winners from Project Runway was inside. I immediately ask who it is, and when I glance down at the paper, I see it's none other Chloe Dao. So I run into the Verizon and go up to the table and say hello. She was there because she is designing phone cases for them. And also, she? Is flawless. And really nice. And seemed really normal and personable. And also thinks its a dumb to move PR from Bravo to Lifetime. Yes, I asked her what she thought of that thankyouverymuch! Anyways, she has a line coming out and blah blah. So now I have met two Project Runway contestants (Danny V was the other) and knew someone on Top Chef (the faux-hawked Dale, NOT Asian Dale from this season). So at least if I am going to meet reality stars, I can say I am happy they are from Bravo shows! Oh, and who else is excited for Shear Madness? Its coming back! I occasionally see Ben from season one at my gym. Plus, he is now the head hair stylist at the salon that Pete Wentz opened up.

Going to Florida to visit Jamie, Paul, and my grandma! Yay!

I want expensive sadness...

Mood: Annoyed

Anyways, so many shows on tonight! And then I get to see Nick and Becca this weekend! Woo!

Tuesday, April 29, 2008

Take me out to the ball game...

Going to the Cubs game tonight. Its going to be freezing!

Anyways, so I was not a fan of MT as Georgina Sparks on GG. She just didn't seem believable as evil. I am curious as to what the secret is. I have heard/read spoilers/rumors, so I wonder if anything I have heard is correct! And The Hills? I sort of felt bad for Audrina when Lo and Lauren were snarking on JB. But what does she expect. He is kind of a tool. And also, it is very apparent that Lo does not care for Audrina. If this was real life and not a scripted reality show, then Lauren should have taken Audrina aside and said, for the sake of our friendship, I think we shouldn't live together especially if I am living with Lo. But it seems as though some sort of dramz (SHOCK!) goes down next week. Oh, and Speidi, please stop talking about Lauren's sex tape. It just makes you both look even more like idiots. Its old news. And frankly, the two of you would shop around a tape if need be. So shut it! And Heidi, stop saying you want Lauren to get out of your business, when a. she is not in your business and b. you take every chance you get to talk about her and how you are praying for her. I mean really. Praying for what? Its not like she is in rehab!

Alrighty, more later! I finally went to the Signature Lounge over the weekend. Very touristy.

I'm boarder cheap and cheerful...

I did not watch Lost yet and have managed to stay spoiler free all day! Well I still have an hour to go before I leave work, but I will be good! The Office was definitely dark last night...and Ugly Betty...not one of my favorites but still good. I can't wait for next week with Christian from Project Runway AND Nina Garcia. And also, Judith Light (Claire Mead), looks freaking fabulous. Loved her line to Betty in the bathroom about how she likes to keep up the appearance that she doesn't use the bathroom. Too funny.

Anywho, so my eyes are finally on the mend. My right eye is all clear, but my left eye still has some "spots." So for the next month I am going to use dailies and then switch back to my regular 2 week ones once everything is cleared up. Also, totally unrelated to my eyeballs...I am sooo ready for bread products! I am breaking Passover tomorrow night at Mia Francesca...YUM! But in the meantime, someone just walked by the computer over in my area (that has a sign up about how to keep the printer area neat and tidy) and they go "Oh, they have rules over on this side," but of course, all I hear is ROLLS. Haha

So I really want a cute bucket hat (similar to the one Anya wore during the flight picture). They have them at Coach. And Forever 21. And I want a huge floppy hat for the summer and when I got to Florida. Just you know, to protect my skin. And because floppy hates are fun!

Thursday, April 24, 2008

Well I think it's funny...

So a sign that I watch too much tv. When coming up with headlines for the commercial real estate magazine I work for, this is the gem I came up with for the financing focus column...

Fierce Financing
Asset-based financing can provide faster service when your deal is a hot tranny mess.

I mean, I think its hilarious.

"Wake up Little J....the bitch is back..."

Oh Gossip Girl. How I have missed you. Kristen Bell is so great as the narrator. And this first episode back after the strike was so good. I can't wait to see what sort of trouble Georgina Sparks drums up for Constance's bad girl gone good Miss Serena Van der Woodsen. (Seriously, are these typical UES names?!). I want to know what the real reason was for Serena leaving and going to boarding school other than her triste with Nate. I figured there had to be something.

Anyways, so tomorrow is Day of Silence. I have a GLBT bracelet (like the Live Strong ones but rainbow) that I think I will wear tomorrow in honor. I for sure used to do it in college, but its harder when you are at work. But I still want to make sure I show my support!

So on to Models and Top Chef. I was soooo nervous that Stephanie was going to have to PYKAG but was still sort of sad to see Jen go. I get that their dish was bad but I thought that Lisa and Anotonia needed to get over themselves when they were going on and on about how they would never serve Italian sausage. Plus, Lisa is just soooo pessimistic about everything. During the quick fire, when she was going on about how she promised herself she wouldn't make a dessert ever for the show...I was like, um have you never watched? You at least need to make one at some point. Plus, I thought her dessert was a rip-off of what Stephanie made in the block party challenge, with the wantons. I was surprised she was in the top three. And her "I have never been on the chopping block before?" Well considering there have been like 4 episodes, jeeeez. I would love for Stephanie, Dale, and Richard to be in the final three. I was loving Mark, but not sure how I feel about him now.

And on Models, oh Tyra, why oh why do you hate Katarzyna so much? And why do you refuse to pronounce her name correctly? She totally wanted her out last night with all the "boring sexy" crap, when even the director of the commercial was like she was the best blah blah. I do love Paulina though. And I want Anya to win this thing. And then fix her hair color. The blonde is a little too whoa for me.

Ugly Betty, Lost, The Office, Step it Up and Dance...soooo many shows on tonight!

"Game on ladies..."

here are the 6 best reasons to openly love Gossip Girl, according to New York magazine:

Reason No. 1 Because 'Gossip Girl' is the Greatest Teen Drama of All Time.
Reason No. 2 Because offscreen, the drama continues.
Reason No. 3 Because 'Gossip Girl' is changing the very model of a successful TV show. Reason No. 4 Because of Blake and Leighton.
Reason No. 5 Because there may really be a Gossip Girl.
Reason No. 6 Because, against all odds, it offers profound social commentary.

Soooo happy its back! Not to mention Ugly Betty and Lost also are new this week! Woot!

The rest is totally not unwritten...

How scripted has The Hills gotten?! I love that MTV still tries to explain that the show is about a girl in LA trying to make it one her own. Riiiight. I mean don't get me wrong I love me some LC (with Whitney and Lo as close seconds) but come on. Making it on her own? Even Lauren said in a recent interview that she would be an idiot not to take advantage of what has happened to her to further her fashion career. And she's right. I mean we all wish that we could walk into our "dream job" and get hired on the spot. And also get paid to appear at clubs and blog about hockey teams and the like. And I can't even believe that I agreed with Spencer this episode...Heidi is delusional about her "relationship vacation." She wants her cake and wants to eat it to. Just tell Spencer exactly what you want woman. I am assuming she still wants him as her boyfriend but he clearly does not know that. And if she wants space then fine but don't string him along. No matter how douchey he is. Yuck. I feel dirty just typing that I agreed with him.

Anywho, not to much else to say. I am boring today. Oh, my eyes are doing better! Too bad the drops still burn when I put them in. Not fun.

You got me begging you for mercy...

So my sister's shower and bachelorette was this part weekend. It was really fun. Everyone had a fabulous time. And also, if you ever need to by any sort of lingerie for anyone in your life, please shop at Wildflowers in Old Town. Gretchen (the owner) is amazing. Its also a great place for a party! :) Anywhoo, pictures to follow at a later post.

Um, how awkward/sort of awesome was The Office on Thursday? LOVED the whole "babe" thing. Oh and Jan dancing to that song by "The Hunter" was priceless. And obviously about her. Poor Michael. I hope he has fun at Dwight's house. And I hope that Dwight and Angela get back together soon.

And I think the Tory Burch shoes purchase is happening today after work. I am skipping my cardio strip class because I am exhausted from the weekend (shoe buying is so not exertion haha) AND shockingly, I have an eye infection (Keratitis and a swollen cornea). My eye doc thinks I may keep getting this because while my contact lenses are high-moisture, they aren't super oxygenated, SO when I go back in a week, he is going to try me on a new lens. Which is fine. I'm just happy (knock on wood) its not pink eye! But anyways, I am skipping class also due to my eyeballs since my vision is blurry and I have to wear glasses at least for all of today. But anyways, I have pilates twice this week, not to mention 85 other things everyday after work, so I need one night to myself! :)

Happy Birthday Jenna!

T-7 days until Gossip Girl comes back!

Tossed Aside

So I just realized that I have totally been "snubbed" out of my work group. I mean are we 12? Seriously, they act like they are still in high school. So I guess its for the better. But I miss CB. :( Apparently not wanting to go out and drink all the time and not being Irish gets you kicked out. Oh well.

If you get some feedback be sure to take it higher...

Oh The Hills. How I can't quit you. Oh Heidi, how dim you are. Lauren is not your friend because of Spencer. She is not your friend because you ditched her for your douchey boyfriend and then didn't do anything when he spread rumors about her fake sex tape. Oh yeah, and because you make digs at her at whatever chance you get. And some of these gems include you calling her a "low-life" and dissing her new line, while yours is quite whore-y and cheap looking. Seriously, the every day woman would NOT wear your Heidiwood clothes. But some of your purses are cute. And I love Lauren's line. Boring as some of the pieces are. They are cute and timeless. I just wish I could afford them. I love that I think that I am friends with these people on this show and that they may learn something from reading my blog. Which, Lauren, if you read this...squee! I heart you and your shiny hair! Oh, and hi Lo!

Oh, so anyways, back to The Hills. I am pretty sure both the editing and the timeline on this show is super wonky. Mostly to create drama. But whatevs, clearly I will still watch!

Right. So deciding if I want to go see Yelle in a few weeks. The tickets are pretty cheap...but I am so on a budget right now that I don't think I have room for concerts. Sniff. Well, maybe for Lolla this summer! I am so excited for Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Uffie, The Kills, and The Raconteurs. Among others. But I hate super crowded outdoor events when it is 105 degrees out. However, pretty soon I will have room in the budget for Tory Burch flats. haha

Anywhoo, so I totally won my office basketball pool. Only a few of us participated so I only win $39. But still, I knew Memphis would help me. Even if they did lose last night. But damn, Kansas played a good game. With a former U of I coach, I might add.

more later. Idol and Hells Kitchen on tonight! AND...new Office on Thursday! WOOT!

Thursday, April 03, 2008

Put your guns away it's tea time...

Okay, so oddly enough, last night on Top Chef, the whole "lets mix chocolate with really odd things" appeared. However, it was a million times better executed than on Hells Kitchen. And instead of raw venison and white chocolate, we got chocolate wasabi...which sounds kind of gross, but since that dish (also involved salmon and mock caviar) won the challenge, well then it must have been delicious! And also, oh Ryan, why am I not surprised that your favorite movie is Dumb and Dumber? But I am glad that his dish, along with Mark worked out well. It actually sounded quite delicious! And they picked a great movie to work with. Stephanie and Lisa's caramel reduction whatever sauce and their fillet looked amazing. I want Stephanie to win this whole thing. And I want Spike to stop channeling K-Fed and get rid of the Fedoras.

Anywho, so last night after my pilates class I ran into check out the sale books at The Unabridged Book Store by my apartment. They usually have hardcover books on sale for like $6.99. And they didn't disappoint! I ended up getting "The Tenth Circle," by Jodi Piccoult, and "Murder at the Vicarage," by one Miss Agatha Christie. It is the first Miss Marple mystery so I am excited to read it. They actually had a few of her books on sale, if anyone is interested. Of course, I didn't need any new books but whatever, one can never have too many.

You've got the right stuff...baby...its the reason why I sing this song...

I am so excited for the NKOTB reunion tour. Seriously. And for sure I will get to one of their concerts. I totally had a Joey poster when I was younger...and I am pretty sure I had a slap bracelet of them as well. But of course at school (like 4th-5th grade) on front of the boys, I would trash talk my beloved New Kids just so I would seem cool. Keep in mind I had HUGE glasses and a perm. Yes. A perm. But I was very fashion forward due in part to wanting to dress like my sister did in junior high. I was the first to "peg" my pants in 5th grade...I totally started the trend at Windsor Elementary School. But anyways, trying to be cool in front of the boys who hated New Kids and called them derogatory names, oy what was I thinking.

So Hells Kitchen...oh Gordon Ramsey how I have missed you! And seriously...where do the producers find these contestants? I mean I could be on that show, the level of cooking seemed so bad! I would love to see some of these wackos go head to head with se don't ask what that last part is in references. It is for one persons eyes only!the folks on Top Chef. Loved Ramsey getting all bent out of shape and VOMITING after he ate that tar tar exotic nasty thing with venison, white chocolate, and CAPERS! That doesn't even sound any parts appealing. And the guy who cooked it looked appalled that Chef hated it so much. And that guy with the hat? Loved when Chef R told him off. And Bobby? Stop with the 4 star general crap.

Models and Top Chef and Idol tonight, and I think I might get Thai food. Yay.

Also, Congrats B! :)

My Stupid Mouth...

Has gotten me in trouble way to many times this year. In which case, I am never telling anyone anything about anything. Ever.

And I am having this weird obsession with Dita von Teese. Flawless.

Hot Mess

I'm still not quite sure how I feel about the newest crop of cheftestants on Top Chef. Last night's episode was a disaster. And Spike, please take off your yellow fedora and never wear it again. But you do bring the pretty. Anyways, I thought the idea of having them cook for a block party was pretty cool. But I sort of assumed it would have been like a street fair in Chicago and not some random neighborhood party. But the judges were right, the chefs should have made fine dining cuisine...which the blue team sort of did. The ribs looked great. As did the dessert that Stephanie made and won with! And Dale2 also is apparently from Chicago? Seems like majority of them are from either San Fran or Chicago. But I digress, Erik, how dare you disrespect Rick Bayliss like that. That was no parts cool. Just because you don't believe that Mexican food should be fine dining, doesn't mean it can't. And your plating? Oy. You need lessons from Season 1 Stephen!!

Anywho, so its snowing. And it will be April in a few days. I love the snow and all, but in the winter months. And I decided this summer I only want to wear long flowy dresses. I am sure I can get a bunch at Forever 21. haha

A cause des garcons...

So a girl I was friends with in high school found me on MySpace...and sent me a message along with her friend request saying: "Wow, you look great." Um, did I look bad in high school? Cuz I pretty much look the same except for better hair. I mean I have always loved my hair, but since high school was in the 90s, we can all imagine the hair atrocities. Not as bad as my super-high awesome bangs during middle school but whatevs.

Anyways, so here is my funny little story from Starbucks this morning. My favorite barista (for those of you who frequent the 'bucks on Michigan Ave. that is right past
the Nordstrom building going South, it is the guy who always sings show tunes and what not). He is ferosh.

Me: I don't need a bag (I was getting water and a drink and a fruit and cheese thing)

Barista: Ohh I see (as I motion to my tote bag). Is it one of the Whole Foods or Trader Joe ones?

Me: No (holding it out for him to see). Its actually from an adult toy shop in Andersonville, that is women-friendly!

Barista: (laughs) If I designed that bag, I would totally make it dirty. I would be like Heeeeeeeey look at my bag!!

He is seriously awesome. We once had a conversation about Britney and how we love her song Gimme More.

Anyways, Models and Top Chef on tonight! I am reading rumors that Tyra has basically checked out of the show and doesn't get along with Mr. Jay (small orange man). Also, remember in the early days of Models, Mr. Jay didn't really have a function. How did he become so integrated into the show? Generally speaking, what are his credentials. And more importantly, why do I care?!

All I hear is ay ya ya ya ya...you're talking way too much...

My dirty little secret of the day...I really LOVE Ashlee Simpson's newest single, Little Miss Obsessive. I don't know who is singing with her (some boy from some sort of emo band I am assuming), but its good. Totally cheesy words, but we have all been there. So check it out yo!

So I am actually doing a bracket thing at my office (prize is like $30), but so far I am doing okay. I have UNC and Memphis for the final 2...with Memphis winning. I just sort of picked out my ass/based on schools I liked/where I would want to go to grad school. Although the final two are just random...UNC because well, they are North Carolina and they must breed basketball players...and then Memphis cuz why not! I almost had Stanford going all the way to the end. I have UCLA going pretty far as well. Same with UW-Madison.

And I am also going one with the Fug girls--based on which celeb dresses the fuggest. I have Courtney Peldon and Bai Ling as the final two...with La Peldon winning the whole thing! So far I have been mostly right, with a few slip ups. I've got Mischa Barton and Chloe Sevigny going pretty far. Same with Kim Stewart. My final four is Mischa, Bai, La Peldon, and Joss Stone. I know a lot of people are gunning for MK Olsen...but (small voice/ducks rocks being thrown) I sometimes do really like the way MK dresses even if she does wear 47 layers and looks like a hot tranny mess.

Well enough about that. I saw Horton Hears a Who this weekend, it was so good! I love kids movies with adult humor. Oh and I finally finished reading "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay," so Facebook can get off my ass about sending me emails whether or not I am still reading it. I will have to update that soon.

Don't you wish your girlfriend was hot like me?

How is it that someone like Ashley Alexandra Dupre can become famous for being a prostitute? I don't get it. I was reading a gossip site today that talked about all the money she is getting lately, and then asked "don't you wish you were her?" Um, no not really. And when she was talking about how she doesn't want people to view her as a monster...um honey? I think that ship sailed when you agreed to get paid for lewd sexual acts with high-powered officials and rich men. Why is no one reaching out to her and helping her do something worthwhile with her life instead of going on tour with Joe Frances. And speaking of, Frances offered her $1 million to pose for his new magazine. Can't he do something else with his money? Like donate it to charity or use it to help this girl start her life over? Or help other girls get on their feet instead of thinking that they need to chose this lifestyle or flash their tits and hoohas for money? I mean, I have no idea why Dupre chose this line of work...and if she did it on her own accord, then I guess that's her choice. But America needs to stop acting like she is the next big thing.

That is all.

Fierce Tranny Mess

I so need to see the Project Runway skit they did on SNL last weekend. I am going to watch it on YouTube as soon as I get home! But after I leave work I do need to stop at Vera Wang to pick up my bridesmaid dress! Woot! Now I just need to get all the right undergarments (aka like full body spanx haha) and shoes so I can get it altered and be FIERCE at the wedding. Well not as fierce as my sister, but you get the point. I hope she knows that I am planning on the two of us taking some fabulous editorial shots together. Hahah Say it with me...they will be fierce! Fierce fierce fierce. Okay I think I got that out of my system.

Moving on...LOST SPOILER ALERT! So I for one don't believe that Jin is dead. I bet he is on the island. I mean this plot was also done a la Alias when we thought the delicious Vaughn was dead but really, he was in Tibet with monks hiding out from the baddies. But anyways, so yeah Lost last night? Most of the time as I was watching I was like "who in the what what?" It was a pretty confusing episode for me. But I read some stuff about it so now I get the point. I did enjoy all the Ho!Yay! (homo-erotic love) going on between Sayid and Desmond. Me-ow!

Top Chef. I'm not sure how I feel about the cheftestants just yet. I think its great that there is a lesbian couple, but I hope that Bravo didn't do that just to create drama and ratings. Well, I guess that's what you do with shows like this. Anyways, so far I love the Kiwi guy. His Marmite pizza (not Vegamite Rocco) sounded delish. As did the guy who made the one with peaches and a sweet tea reduction. I don't know if anyone is going to be able to bring the snark as much as my beloved LeAnn (season one) or Dale (season 3) just yet. But I hope so. Also, I am interested to know why they went to Uno's for pizza instead of taking them to like Lou's or something. Just seems like a better choice for deep dish.

AND I read that Dale is opening an upscale diner here called Town & Country and Sara from that season is going to be the Sous Chef! And CJ will be working there too! Which means he will be in Chicago!

Alrighty, well lets see. Bloomington was really fun last weekend! The kids are super cute and had so much fun at their respective b-day parties. Becca is totally into princesses and ponies. So cute. Nick loves Star Wars.

I need a play date with Joshua soon.

Its MAY-JAH!

I love Victoria Beckham...even if she is slightly robotic and needs to eat like a lot of fish and chips. But anyways, I thought she was great on Project Runway last night! I loved that she loved Christian so much, and I fully believe that she will contact him to design something for her! And on that note, I am really happy that Christian won! While I hated him when the season first started, I totally grew to love him in all his fierceness. I was a bit skeptical about the ruffles and the feathers, but he turned it out!! I also liked that his model (who gets to be in the spread in Elle Magazine) was genuinely excited for him. That was cute.

I LOVED Rami's evening gowns. They were stunning. And if I was famous, I would want him to design me something. The general colors of his show were a little random, but it was nice to see something other than black and beige.

I felt like Jillian's was the most "ready to wear" but did not like that black and white striped shirt with the rope sleeves. It just looked weird and out of place. All her jackets were fabulous as usual.

Over all, I thought all three did a great job and wish I could be invited to NY Fashion Week to see them live. I did however, think that some of their models were not so fierce with the walking. I mean seriously. Miss Jay could teach them a thing or two! Most of the girls looked like they had never walked down a runway...and at the end when they needed to work it out and then head back...they looked clumsy and clueless! Oy. I have been watching shows relating to models for way to long! haha

And speaking of Models...last night was the makeover episode! I actually thought, with the exception of like 2 people, that they actually worked out well. I love Claire and was scared of the blonde hair at first, but bitch owned it! Wasn't feeling Aimee's hair color, but I love her anyways. And I like Katerzyna a lot too. I thought the dark brown was very becoming on her. And felt bad at the judging because the picture they showed was for sure not her best, and I think even she knew that. I think Tyra just has to make sure that each cycle has the "you look too sexy it's tacky" model, but I think she is stunning. I'm not sure how I feel about Lauren. I like the awkward punk rawk thing she has going on, but I would like to hear here talk about something else besides not knowing how to pose and never having worn heels before. I want to hear about why she is in the competition!

So Lost tonight! I forgot what was supposed to happen this week though. And I have recently gotten into Eli Stone, which is on after. Haven't watched New Amsterdam yet though. I plan to when I get back from Bloomington this weekend.

More tomorrow.

peace.

You wanna be on top?

So I have noticed that lately at work, while walking to the loo or the kitchen to refill my water bottle, I have totally started walking as though I am on America's Next Top Model, well unless other people are around. So far my signature walk involves one hand on my hip and a sassy hip sway. In any case, I like to think my signature walk is pretty damn fierce! haha

Anyways...fingers crossed for Senator Clinton today!

Leapin Lizzards!

Happy Leap Day everyone! And in honor of it being Leap Day, here is a video from when Frasier sings "Buttons and Bows" on the Leap Day episode they did. Hilarious.

Enjoy!

Lost? OMG. Was basically shrieking the whole time I watched it last night!!

The minute you walked in the joint...I could tell you were a man of distinction...a real big spender...

So the best part (for me) of Project Runway was when we saw the baby/younger pictures of the designers! Little Christina was super cute! He kind of needs to take it down a peg but I still heart him! I actually like them all! I was sad that Chris didn't make it, but he took it well, plus he still got to show. I did love his middle dress though (with the lace bodice) and the human hair skirt...it was really fabulous. Even if it was human hair. But I mean people wear animals all the time...and I am assuming that the human hair was not taking inhumanely from the owner. Anyways, but yeah I adored Rami's middle black and white creation as well. I did get what Chris was going for. Had this been a contest to win to show at Paris Fashion week, he would have won, hands down. I loved the hair and makeup he did as well. And can totally see him designing something costume-y for like Dita Von Teese at some point! She would rock his designs. I am interested to see who wins! And the other three's collections.

I want Tim Gunn to come to my house!

Tonight I am meeting Mary for dinner and then we are heading over to Kit Kat for Kim's b-day. I am excited to go because I haven't been to Kit Kat in forever, and always have a good time there. And then when I get home, even if I have to stay up late, I am watching Lost. Because I don't want to spoil myself tomorrow but finding out what happens. Because I know I will crack and have to look!

My favorites on ANTM so far are: Aimee, Katarzyna, Whitney, and Claire

Follow Up

Just an FYI, New Amsterdam is not about vampires like I originally though, although the commercials sort of make it seem like that, or maybe I am just an idiot. Anyways, for more info about the actual show, go here.

Thanks John!

Shake it like a pom pom, like a pom pom...

So I really think I need to see Step Up and Step Up 2: The Streets or whatever it's called. I do enjoy those dancing movies. And the soundtrack for the second one is good!

Anyways, so Sunday night, I had my own little Oscar Party babysitting for JOSHUA! Well, he was asleep during the actual show, but we got some time in before bedtime. OMG he is so cute, I can't even stand it. And such a little sweetheart. And a little genius. Seriously, he is one and a half or 18 months as those with kids would say (right Tracey, is he 18 months?) and can already count to 20, and count to 10 in multiple languages. If that doesn't say Nobel Prize winner, I don't know what does! :)

So the Oscar's...no one's dress really wowed me. I did like Katherine Heigl and Anne Hathaway. I also really liked Calista Flockhearts dress. Random, I know. But it was really pretty and wasn't red or black like most of the attendees. I also liked Jennifer Garner's dress. But mostly because I heart her. And Penelope Cruise looked flawless as usual, even though the feathers on her dress were a wee bit much.

And on the subject of fashion...so what was up with the man handling between Chris and Rami on the PR reunion? Are they secretly dating? OMG that would be awesome! I can't wait to see everyone's collections this week and am happy that Sweet Pea got to show as well. I think that Christian is the favored winner, but I also think that Jillian's work as been consistant as well. Plus, as I have mentioned in previous posts, I LOVE the jacket's she makes. Love. And speaking of jacket's, Gap has a really cute a-line yellow peacoat I need for the spring. Since I can't afford that lovely Coach jacket, I may have to substitute. I think they also carry it in hot pink. But yellow is so hot right now! I want a yellow top/dress to wear to some element of my sister's wedding.

Alrighty, well I think I am going to watch the Clinton/Obama debate tonight! And then next Tuesday that show New Amsterdam about vampires starts on Fox. And March 17 is the new DWTS. I have never watched, but I adore Kristi Yamaguchi, so I will be watching! Oh, and Parker Posey's new show (Jezebel something) starts soon on Fox as well.

Lata!

Casey Jones you better watch your speed....

OMG so Wicked was soooo good! Totally different from the book, but I still really enjoyed it!

Anyways, so on Facebook, one of the things I have in my profile is the "visual bookshelf," which allows your friends to see what you are reading, have read, or want to read. And it will send you reviews of books you have from other Facebook users. Simple enough. So I am pretty annoyed that for the past two weeks, the Facebook Visual Bookshelf people have been sending me an e-mail letting me know that "I have been reading The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay for more than a week." I mean seriously, are they kidding? The book is over 600 pages long. And plus I am now reading something else for my book club so will have to return to it when I'm done. And really, its just sort of rude to send messages as some people read slower than others. And just generally, who cares if I have been reading it for more than a week. Whatevs!

Prison Break season finale tonight! Woot!

PS 24 won't be back until January of 09. Boo. I need my Kiefer fix!

Love me love me say that you love me...

Happy Valentine's Day Bitches!

I am leaving work soon to go treat myself to fun things at Sephora. Yay! Benefit has some new things I am eager to see. I want to get something that will give me a glowy/dewey look all day.

And really...you all know you love me!

I'm only going higher (higher)!

So my dirty little secret of the week...I kind of really like Heidi Montag's (from The Hills) new song. Sure it's totally manufactured pop, and she sort of has that J-Simpson breathy/screechy thing going on, but the song itself is catchy. The video though? Not so much. I mean that's great that she wanted to do something low budget and whatnot, but just admit that you and Spencer planned it not that you just happened to go to the beach one day and you happened to have all the necessary equipment in the trunk of the car, and low and behold you decided to shoot your video.

Anywho, so tomorrow is V-day. Stupid Hallmark-made commercialized holiday. But I do enjoy the tangy conversation hearts. I like the regular as well. So to celebrate V-Day tomorrow, since I love myself, I am going to get myself some sort of beauty related gift (probably something of the Benefit line at Sephora) and indulge in gyros and cheese fries. YUM. And give some extra lovin to Webster since he is my Valentine. Shut up...when you don't have a partner, you need to focus all your love on your pet if you have one. And Webster is the bestest kitty ever! Even though he sometimes is cujo-like.

Right so...with the strike being over I am very delighted to say that Ugly Betty, Gossip Girl, The Office, Reaper and Grey's (as well as other shows, but I don't want them) will be returning in April/May/June. And here is the best part...there may be an additional FIVE episodes added on to this season of Lost. Please oh please let this be true! I also read though that Cashmere Mafia and Lipstick Jungle...and sadly Reaper, will probably be canceled. Sad. I love Ray Wise and Bret Harrison. CM and LJ I'm indifferent about. Although I hope it means that Kim Raver will return to 24. Speaking of, no word on wassagoin on (all you Rock of Love fans better get that reference) with the newest season. But I need to get my rear in gear and finish last season. And I want to start watching Dexter. But the DVDs, not the edited version that will be on CBS.

Phew this post is long. Alright, well happy almost V-Day everyone!

xoxo

I just wanna color outside the lines...

So I meant to post this yesterday, but Tina Turner killed it at the Grammys. Girlfriend was AMAZING. And she looked great too. I thought for the most part, the performances I saw were good. I also really liked Fergie. I had no idea she could sing like that. And she wore a pretty dress instead of those weird shorts she favors. And Amy Winehouse actually sounded good and remembered all the words to her songs! haha Carrie Underwood was a little wooden (no pun intended) but she sang great. Aretha was great, but I could have done with out the religious stuff. And I have such a crush on Alicia Keys.

Oh and I cried during everything single Beatles anything. I was really moved by the LOVE performance. I bet it is amazing to watch live on stage and not through a tv screen. Oh and I cried during Kanye's performance. But generally, he needs to shut it and get over himself.

Anywho, do Flavor of Love 3 started last night. I have yet to watch. But you know how I love my trashtastic reality shows. And speaking of reality tv, on Saturday night I went to see the "British Invasion" comedy show at the Lakeshore Theatre with D.Ro and Rebecca. One of the comics was Matt Kirshen from Last Comic Standing. I didn't watch his season, but some of you might have! He is the mini British one. And utterly hilarious. Seriously. And the name escapes me, I think it was Robert something, was the first to perform, and he was hilarious as well. Different kind of humor, but I paid attention and laughed the whole time. They both had great presentation. There were other comics but these two were my favorites. Afterwards, we basically attacked Matt Kirshen (he is sooooo tiny) and he invited us to the after party after the second show. So we went to get dinner at Wilde and then came back to the theater to hang out. It was a great time.

So in the latest news...huzzah the writers' strike is over! I can't wait for new episodes of The Office. And Ugly Betty. And everything else I watch.

Oh, and I found the trench coat I want this spring. It is Coach and amazingly pretty. And costs like $800, so I will just have to admire it from the bus window when we go by the store. Also, on the subject of things I want. I also want the Ksubi/Cory Kennedy t-shirt and the red/white/blue Gucci bag that Cory Kennedy was rocking during fashion week. Seriously, so not something I would ever want, but I loved it.

ttfn. xoxo
