One day, this might become a novel.

Welcome to the jungle....

So after an almost nine-month hiatus...the fourth season of Lost premieres tonight. With the first hour being a recap of the first three seasons, I think. Hooray!! I am curious to see what direction this season takes. And then since I have to miss Celebrity Apprentice (yes I watch that trainwreck), I am just taping it when MSNBC shows it on Saturday night. However, I am sure I will read a recap of it tomorrow so I know who gets kicked off.

Anywho, so I really want some Chilis chips and salsa right now. And ranch dressing. Not sure why. I may have to do Chilis To-Go after Shayne and I are done with interviewing a potential board member tonight. But, I shouldn't be eating that. Ugh. I was already naughty last night with the homemade nachos I made. They are really delish. Ask my sister. I have made them for her. I try and make sure every chip gets covered with cheese. Mmmmm yum.

Alrighty, well almost time to go. And then happy hour tomorrow after work with some work peeps. Haha look at me being all social and what not. Now, I just need to do something with myself for the Superbowl.

My fingernails are holding onto the cracks in our foundation....

This is gonna be a short one cuz I am leaving work in a moment. But anyways, I only caught the end of the Miss America pageant (congrats Miss Michigan!), but even from the little bit I saw, I'm not quite sure it was all that different from before. I did like the jeans and tank part. And also was really happy that Miss Washington made 4th runner up!! But I thought the question and answer part at the end was a bit weird. Like they asked about whether or not JL Spears should be fired from her job because she is with child. Miss Indiana answered decently, but she really should have said that while this was a mistake, JL should use this opportunity to go out and teach other young girls about birth control (well as soon as she learns about it) and that as Miss America, she would like to be able to reach out to young girls and help them understand about different options of birth control and why abstinance-only sex education is not the way to go. I think answering something like that would be a new way to answer it. We all know the media is partially responsible for young girls thinking its okay to flash their privates on their camera phone and post it on Facebook and what have you...I think these Miss Americas should really have talked about what they can do about it. Like if they are the new "It" girl...then they should show everyone what a proper "it" girl should be. (like Natalie Portman)

Okay preaching is over. No Project Runway this week. Sad.

So just chill...til the next episode

So I am not keeping up my NYs resolution of blogging more...next week, I promise!

Tomorrow night Chicago NOW's reproductive rights team is putting on the event "Ladies' Choice," to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Roe v Wade. If you want more details, feel free to e-mail me! it will be a great time...21 and older though since its at a bar and alcohol will be served.

Anywho...last night was the last Ugly Betty for a while. I liked it. Loved Amanda singing about Gene Simmons being her daddy. Loved Marc and Amanda making up a rap about GS being her daddy. However, there was not enough Marc and Willi scenes for me! Tonight is the final episode of "Miss America Realty Check!" With tomorrow being the actual pageant. I am sort of excited for the pageant to see if the women really did follow the advice on how to modernize the pageant and not make it look like women should have huuuuuge over-sprayed hair, caked-on make up, and ugly-ass dresses in order to be a role model. Not that the pageant over-all is necessarily a step in the positive women's right direction BUT if they can modernize it and be actual role models instead of robots...we might be onto something. Plus, I may have mentioned this before, but the women all actually have really healthy looking bodies. Which makes me happy. I still, however, disagree with the whole "kiddie pageant" thing. Just no. Wait until your kids are older so that they can make the decision if they want to be in pageants.

Okay, soooooo yeah. I am going down to work out shortly (yay for my office for getting a sweet workout room!) then home and then just my usual Friday night of watching tv and reading and relaxing. Oh, and I am for sure (well hopefully) planning on getting a library card this weekend. Tomorrow on my way home from pilates!

And finally, my heart goes out to Heath Ledger's family. What a tragedy.

A very merry un-birthday...

Cheers!

Me as the sassy British aunt!

Hooray!

The Fug Girls wrote a book!!! And its out in stores on February 5. I may have to go pre-order my copy on Amazon.

Excuse me but can I be you for awhile...

First of all...shut up Travis Stork. Please do not tell me why I shouldn't be "that girl." I mean seriously. Just because you fame-whored yourself out on a reality tv show (The Bachelor for those of you not in the know), doesn't make you the authority on women and how we should act. Yes, I may agree that going into a relationship with marriage on the brain is probably not the best idea for both MEN and WOMEN, but hey, sometimes it happens. And furthermore, to bring up a point I have reiterated 400 times already maybe if society didn't group women in their 30s as "old maids" because they aren't married, then maybe less women would be "that girl" you claim to be an expert on. And also furthermore than that, That Girl, was actually a television show in 1966 starting Marlo Thomas as Ann Marie, a struggling actress living in New York City. So if being "that girl" means I get to be compared to Marlo Thomas, then I'll take it. Did you see her when she was on Ugly Betty? She is still fabulous. And a feminist. And Free to Be is like my bible (she also starred in that), so really, who wouldn't want to be compared to her!

Anywho, enough with the posts about marriage and the like. But not the band The Like. Because the band The Like is cool...so I have heard. I need to check them out. They are friends with Miss Cory Kennedy, so clearly, I must learn everything about them haha.

I am soooo glad that Christian and Chris (Team Fierce) won the challenge on Project Runway last night! I floved both their avant garde and their ready to wear. I especially loved the huge collar the did. Very very couture. I did miss the beginning of the episode so I need to go back and watch.

So, pics from the tea party are coming soonly. Probably this afternoon! Holla!

PS apparently many women actually like Dr. Stork's book and deem it entertaining and say those that are upset are just taking it seriously. So I guess I am taking it too seriously because I fully believe when men write books about how women should act, its sets the movement back like 85 years. And irregardless that while I am sure I also exhibit many of the characteristics he mentions in his book, still doesn't make him an expert. I believe I have already found my confident, rational (well sometimes) grrl within.

Strum me Like a Guitar

Soooo tonight I am going to see a free screening of the movie "Caramel" written and directed by Nadine Labaki. It takes place at a beauty salon in Beirut and is about 5 women of different generations who come to confide in each other because they are always at the salon together. It sounds like a really great movie! So special thanks to Roadside Attractions for extending the invite to Chicago NOW.

Anyways...oy with the writers' strike already. I mean yes, I support them...but I miss my shows. Especially The Office. But Prison Break was on last night. Oh sweaty Michael Schofield...how I have missed you. And Ugly Betty was new and is this week as well. Haha Loved when Wili said she was "hormotional." And loved every scene with Marc. Especially when he was trying to comfort Christina with the mannequin hand. And Betty calling Bow Wow, Mr. Wow. Awesome.

I should have pictures from the little tea party I went to this past weekend. It was a blast. I joked that I was the sassy British Aunt (read: town harlot) with my red lipstick and fabulous pink hat. And yes, this tea party was just with adults. But it was at the American Girls Store...yes, I said American Girls. That place is SCARY. But dressing up and going to tea there was fun. Walking through the Bitty Babies to go use the washroom...frightening. Seeing little 6 year old girls with full-on makeup. NOT OKAY. I wanted to go yell at the mum for dressing her daughter like that...but not really my place I guess.

Okay, off to the movie!

Wicked as a joy ride jaunt...

So I feel like everywhere I go lately, I am always the only singleton. Seriously...when did everyone around me suddenly get hitched?! Oh well, at least I don't really mind being the third wheel!

Anyways, on a more positive note...Ugly Betty is new tonight! Yay! I need my fix! And the season finale of Gossip Girl was so good. I cried. And as for Project Runway, yet again, I loved Chris's design. Although to be honest, no one actually wowed me. I bet Laura from Season 3 would have rocked this challenge. As would Austin Scarlett. Remember that garden party dress he did? Loved.

Rock Lobster

I really wanted Chris to win last night on Project Runway. I loved his dress. It looked really cool, seemed well-constructed, and his model looked fantastic in it. But Rami's dress was pretty awesome.

Get Naked...

Happy New Year everyone!

New Year's Resolution (borrowed from Bridget Jones thank you):

Resolution #1: uggg - will obviously lose 20 lbs. #2: always put last night's panties in the laundry basket. Equally important: will find nice sensible boyfriend and stop forming romantic attachments to any of the following: alcoholics, workoholics, sexaholics, commitment-phobics, peeping toms, megalomaniacs, emotional fuckwits, or perverts. Will especially stop fantasizing about a particular person who embodies all these things.

So mostly true except for the panties part and the 20 pounds part. But its funny so I left it in.

Also, I am going to try my darndest to blog more. And also, I think I am the only person who did not like the movie Knocked Up. I did, however, enjoy Juno.
